Can a Robot Mower Cut Tall or Thick Grass?

Robot mowers work best on regularly maintained grass at 2-4 inches. They cut small amounts frequently (daily or every other day) rather than taking off large amounts at once. If your grass has grown to 6+ inches, you need to mow it down with a traditional mower first before letting the robot take over.

Once at the right height, the robot maintains it by trimming tiny amounts each session. This little and often approach actually produces a healthier, denser lawn than weekly scalping with a gas mower.
